INTRODUCTION:
The Great Lent is a fasting season of Eight weeks. Each week
has its significance based on the facts described it the Holy Bible. The Church
has taught Fasting following the acts of Her founder and Lord, Jesus Christ; the
teachings and experiences of the Prophets and the Apostles. It is called ‘Great
Lent’ because it was set by our Lord Himself and is the longest fasting period
as well. Matthew4:2 “He fasted forty days and forty nights.”
